- Distant Visual Acuity: 6/9 in each eye without correction and 6/6 with correction.
- Near Visual Acuity: N/5 in each eye without correction and N/5 with correction.

To become a pilot, you'll need to pass a medical examination conducted by a DGCA-approved doctor. They'll assess your overall physical and mental fitness, including your eyesight.
Don’t worry. You can register with the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) or any other open school approved by DGCA, and pass the equivalent examinations to be eligible to undergo the Pilot Training course.
- It is not mandatory to complete graduation to become a Pilot. However, one can choose to start the Pilot Training Course after completing the graduation course.
The Student Pilot License (SPL) is the license that enables you to fly as a student till you obtain your CPL.
To obtain an SPL, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Minimum Age: 16 years.
- Requirements: A Class 2 medical certificate and a successful oral examination.
An Instrument Rating (IR) enables a pilot to fly an aircraft in low-visibility conditions, relying solely on the aircraft's instruments. This rating is mandatory for obtaining a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
Requirements for an Instrument Rating typically include:
- Flight Training: 40 hours of instrument time (which can include a combination of 20 hours in a simulator and 20 hours in an aircraft).

To obtain the DGCA computer number, follow the steps below-
- Register on the DGCA Pariksha website (https://pariksha.dgca.gov.in/home).
- Please fill out the application form and upload the required documents.
